Survey Development

Artifact type: Course Survey as an Evaluation Tool
Role: I was the developer for this project

Artifact Description: Within any program, there may come a time and need in which surveys are necessary to collect initial data as well as assessment data for review of a newly implemented or updated program, course, document, etc. This particular assignment focused on gathering information from current and past art students regarding what influenced them to take or not take art courses. These results were utilized in assessing a failing art program to find potential ways to increase student enrollment throughout the district.

Competencies: Design and Development of a Learning System and System Evaluation

Reflection: This project was important in looking into proper question development as well as how surveys can be utilized to gather information based on a given goal or purpose. How a survey is written, read, and interpreted can greatly affect the outcomes of not only the survey, but also the effects on the goals of the given project.

Strengths: The project was a great learning experience of proper question development. The survey was implemented in 1 course, which gave crucial feedback to the initial study of the overall art program.

Weaknesses: Due to a lack of implementation the survey has not been found to be useful or in need of updating.
