Learning Technology Design and Development

A Professional Application

An education in Learning Technologies and Design incorporates a multitude of skills, theories, and best practices, that together culminate in purposefully, well-constructed, meaningful learning. Utilizing the skills of task, hierarchical and procedural analysis allows an instructional designer to gauge the type of learning that is necessary for successful understanding and retention of the information that is needed. With the knowledge of proper methods of project design and development, whether an educational model, a manual, How-To documents, videos, or other multi-media based, I as an instructional designer will be able to work toward the successful completion of learning tasks while staying with in the mission and goals of the company, institution, or other business. Furthermore, it is also important to keep consider all aspects of the profession including the users, who we must be actively considerate of when designing including their potential accommodations, social and cultural backgrounds, technological literacy, and learning styles.

As a professional in the field of Instructional Design, I feel it is important to look at each assigned project from the standpoint of not only a stakeholder, but also the user and the designer. It is important to consider the goals that need to be met, the proper methods needed to meet the goals, and the needs of the user in order to successfully achieve the goal. I look forward to utilizing my knowledge gained from within the program to enhance my skills, while honing them into creating engaging, purposeful learning experiences and activities for each user.
