Anne Arundel County Public School Smartfind Express System (SEMS): Procedural Anaylsis/Ask System
Artifact type: System Evaluation
Role: I was the sole individual in the review, analysis, and construction of the Procedural Analysis and Ask System.
Artifact Description: The Procedural Analysis focuses on SEMS, the Call Off System used for Anne Arundel County School District teachers and employees. The procedural analysis was completed due to the various complications and prompts users are asked during a call off procedure.
SmartFind Express (SEMS): Ask System
Artifact Description: The Task Analysis describes the proper procedures a teacher should take in completing the submission for a substitute request in Anne Arundel County Public School. Following the Procedural Analysis, I completed an Ask System/Help module that could be implemented for answer FAQs.
Competency : Front-End Analysis and System Evaluation
Reflection: As a former teacher in the district, I found the use of SEMS difficult to understand due to the amount of information requested. Since the system had various features that could be utilized to favorite substitutes, types of days to be used, and their number of occurrences, it quickly became cumbersome. After completing studies in procedural analysis, I completed a procedural analysis on the system and later turned it into an Ask System based on common complaints I was receiving from teachers within my school building.
Strengths: I found the document and ask the system to be very useful in streamlining and understanding the process necessary to complete a request for a substitute. I allowed me to utilize my skills in the task and procedural analysis to assess the full needs of the user and what type of training or in this case type of document that would be most useful to the user.
Weaknesses: In the ask system, I need to add several more branching questions regarding the substitute feature for how to choose preferred substitutes. I further need to add and research if there are any specifics for the substitute. This was done on the requesting side of the system rather than the receiving/answering side.
